  11. Well, like the subject says, this is probobly not going to do any good, but 
  12. who knows, I figured I'd give it a shot anyways.

  18. I'm working on a project for school/myself that evolves around the concept of 
  19. garage virtual reality.  My "garage VR" setup is based around nothing other 
  20. than our aging friend, the Amiga 1000. Why? I needed something cheap, that I 
  21. wasn't afraid to break, but I also needed something that I could work with and 
  22. could still perform quite well despite it's age.  An XT certainly wouldn't do, 
  23. nor would an Atari ST or an older Apple computer.  The Amiga was far and away 
  24. my best choice.  And besides, I already had one.

  26. I've rigged a Nintendo Powerglove up to it.  Works quite well.  I hacked a 
  27. Victormaxx Stuntmaster game console HMD to it's video and audio ports, which 
  28. also works alright (too bad the resolution is so poor).  But now I find myself 
  29. needing a couple more machines, add-ons, etc to help finish the project out.

  31. My ultimate goal is to be able to have three or four Amiga1000 workstations 
  32. "networked" together and allow people to interact with each other in the 
  33. relatively poor looking "garage VR" setup I have going so far.  Sure, it 
  34. doesn't sound like much, but it's something that I'd personally like to do.  
  35. Unfortunetly, I've put a bit of money into this already and am almost totally 
  36. devoid of cash fundage.  So I can't pay a lot.  (at this point, you sigh and 
  37. realize that you were expecting this all along--a desperate plea for 
  38. donations).

  40. If you DO have an Amiga1000 sitting on a shelf in a closet collecting dust 
  41. that you're not using though, please consider this.  I can pay the $10 
  42. shipping price or however much it would cost you to send it to me if you'd be 
  43. willing to part with it, perhaps a little bit extra depending on how much you 
  44. want for it.  I'm really quite desperate.  If you have any external disk 
  45. drives, old external modems, hard drive controllers, memory upgrades, 
  46. keyboards, power gloves, whatever, that you were just considering trashing, 
  47. please contact me. If it's broken and might be fixable, let me know.  Like I 
  48. said, I need anything I can get.

  50. Please no flames or anything of the sort. I'm just a student trying to find a 
  51. means to learn a little something and do a little experimenting.  I hope I can 
  52. actually get something off the ground, if I can manage that, it would be 
  53. great.  On the other hand, mebbe nothing will come of it.  Who knows?  In any 
  54. case, thnx for bothering to read my pathetic plea for used hardware <GRiN>.
